At the Institute of Bee Health, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, a 

Post doc position (Oberassistent/in) 

is available for a total period of up to four years. 


Research (75%) 

a. Development of own research projects in bee health (focus on pathology preferred) to form the basis of competitive grant proposals aiming at national and/or international grant awarding agencies 

b. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals 

c. Active participation in already ongoing research of the associated unit 

Teaching (20%) 

a. Co-supervision of at least 2 PhD students 

b. Participation in 1 lectures series and in the practical summer bee course (1 week) 

Co-management of the Institute (5%) 

a. Pro-active participation in the administration 

Entrance upon 



• Mandatory: PhD in bee biology for >4 years 

• The ideal candidate will have experience with Apis mellifera (worker, queen and drone health), Apis cerana, Acarapis woodi, Aethina tumida, Varroa destructor and/or Tropilaelaps spp. 

• Priority will be given to highly-motivated and experienced candidates with substantial track record (several publications in peer-reviewed journals, repeated and regular external funding, prior supervision of students) and a clear vision of both their future research and teaching.
