6.10.1. Data view vs. layout view

In ArcMap there are two different views: one for viewing, manipulating, and analysing data (Data View, Fig. 60), and one for creating the final map product (Layout View, Fig. 61). To switch between the two, toggle the buttons at the bottom left hand corner of the data frame (map display, see Fig. 60).The toolbars used in each of these views can be confusing as there are multiple tools for zooming. The Tools toolbar is used for zooming in and out of the data frame, thus the actual data, and the Layout tools toolbar is used to zoom in and out on the final map document. See Figs. 60 and 61 to help understand the differences between these two views and also the different toolbars.
