4.1.1.1. Determining pollen trap efficiency

Pollen traps are variable in their design, so it is advisable to determine the efficiency of a trap at collecting the pollen. This can be achieved by counting the number of bees entering the trap carrying the pollen pellets of interest and determining the percentage that are collected in an empty pollen trap drawer (Levin and Loper, 1984; Goodwin and Perry, 1992).
