Limit test

In some cases (e.g. when a test substance is expected to be of low toxicity), a limit test may be performed using 100 ìg AI/bee in order to demonstrate that the LD50 is greater than this value. The same procedure outlined in section should be used, including three replicate test groups for the test dose, the relevant controls, and the toxic reference. If mortality occurs, a full study should be conducted. If sublethal effects are observed, these should be recorded.
