Graduate Student / Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in Apiculture Research
The Apiculture and Pollination lab at the University of Lethbridge (Lethbridge, Canada) is seeking applicants interested in honey bee research to join our team in January or May 2022. Funding is available for an MSc and a postdoctoral position in the Department of Biological Sciences. The graduate student and postdoctoral scholar will work under the supervision of Dr. Shelley Hoover, with other students, technical staff, and collaborators. The program has over 100 research colonies in apiaries on campus and in nearby agricultural settings.
Project: This research is part of the Results Driven Agriculture “Royal Treatment” project. The project examines linkages between queen honey bee health and fecundity, queen pheromones, worker behaviours, and colony performance. Successful candidates would be encouraged to develop independent research that aligns with the general research themes of the lab.
Postdoc position: The postdoc position is funded for 2 years at a $55,000 CDN per year plus benefits.
MSc position: The MSc position is funded for 2 years with a minimum salary of $20,000 CDN per year from a combination of stipend, teaching assistantships, and scholarship support
