News

Dear colleagues,

The COLOSS Survivors Task Force will start a joint assessment on recapping (REC) behaviour and its underlying mechanisms in the upcoming bee season. The study aims to shed light on the occurrence and frequency of recapping in Apis mellifera and Apis cerana populations, as well as on disease and environmental factors possibly associated with this behaviour. In addition to the factors causing recapping, the study will focus on the importance of this behaviour as a resistance trait enabling colony survival to Varroa destructor. Everybody interested in this research is welcome to join the group!

Further information on data collection as well as the protocols can be found here: https://coloss.org/taskforces/survivors/#downloads

An additional video description of the protocols will be uploaded in spring 2021 here: https://coloss.org/taskforces/survivors/#videos

If you are interested in participating or have questions concerning this collaboration, please do not hesitate to contact the coordinators (contact information is given below)!
