Mr. Christopher Maund received a Master's degree in biology, working in entomology, from Utah State University. He has been employed as the Provincial Entomologist with the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries in New Brunswick, Canada since 1991. Duties involve extension work in Integrated Pest Management on agricultural insect pests on all crops except for potatoes. In 2001, the duties of Provincial Apiarist were added. Provincial Apiarist duties involve enforcement of the Apiary Inspection Act for New Brunswick, registration of beekeepers, updating the inter-provincial honey bee importation requirements for New Brunswick, issuing honey bee importation permits from within Canada to New Brunswick, managing apiary inspectors, apiary inspections, presenting updates on honey bee research and integrated pest management on honey bee pests. Chris Maund has also been an active member of the Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists (CAPA) since 2001 and is on the CAPA importation committee. Chris Maund also does the honey bee winterloss survey for New Brunswick for CAPA. Chris Maund has also been involved in work on documents for Animal Biosecurity for honey bees. Chris Maund has also been involved in work for obtaining New Brunswick emergency registrations of pesticides for control of the varroa mite.
