I am a veterinarian and specialist in anatomic pathology with diagnostic, teaching and research experience across a wide range of farmed, companion animal and wildlife/exotic species. I have worked in private practice, academia and industry, in both the US and UK.
I am also a beekeeper. I speak and write regularly on beekeeping and honeybee veterinary medicine for the veterinary and beekeeping communities as well as the general public. I have a particular interest in sustainable, responsible and ethical beekeeping practices, whether based on cutting-edge science or age-old wisdom. This includes considering how the relationship between humans, bees and other insects has changed over time (ethnoentomology).
More broadly, I am interested in exploring the potential value/expertise that members of the veterinary profession can bring to both the beekeeping community and growing insect-farming sector.
