Marten Schoonman, co-founder and chairman of the Beep foundation. Beep supports beekeepers in taking care of bee colonies. Beekeepers’ observations can be digitally registered using an open source record keeping app, complemented by automatic observations using sensors. Beekeepers can better support the health of bee colonies and react swiftly when conditions worsen. Marten is work package manager in the Horizon 2020 funded B-Good project. He is part-time tech advisor at Naturalis Biodiversity Center. This involves creation and implementation of projects contributing to the conservation or restoration of biodiversity. Keywords are: natural capital, regreening, sustainability and a circular economy. It involves linking the needs and opportunities to what the Naturalis research group can offer. Marten is bioprocess engineer (MSc, Wageningen University and Research). He has 20 years of experience in the application of ICT solutions in a wide range of subjects.
