I’m a beekeeper who turned a hobby into research and am completing a PhD on the effects of perfluorooctane sulfonate and intensive agricultural management on the European honey bee (Apis mellifera). I am also a member of the UNE Pollution Science Research Group and the Rader Lab and a member of a queen bee genetics working body and a consultative panel of researchers, industry bodies, growers and beekeepers working to improve pollinator health on berry farms. When I’m not researching bees I’m raising queens, am the Biosecurity Officer of the local Amateur Beekeeping Association, and provide an advocate service to members of the NSW Apiarists’ Association, affected by mining and other environmental impacts.
