As a research entomologist for USDA, I have worked on biocontrol of Varroa using entomopathogenic fungi, and on the life history and ecology of small hive beetles. Currently my focus is on the interpretation of continuous hive data, such as weight, temperature and CO2, with respect to honey bee colony growth and activity. Our projects include using continuous monitoring to investigate the effects of pesticide exposure, nutrition, landscape and genetics on colony health and behavior.
