My name is Dr. Daniel Bisrat, and I am a chemical ecologist at Addis Ababa University with a deep commitment to protecting honey bee colonies from pests. My research primarily focuses on discovering new chemical compounds that could serve as potential insecticides against pests such as Varroa mites, small hive beetles, and Vespa species (e.g., hornets), all of which pose significant threats to bee health. I specialize in the design, synthesis, and evaluation of acaricidal agents targeting Varroa mites, aiming to develop effective treatments to safeguard bee populations.
I am passionate about preserving healthy bee colonies, which are crucial for pollination and biodiversity. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to serve as a visiting researcher at Andong National University in South Korea on several occasions. My work has resulted in the publication of numerous manuscripts on the control of Varroa mites, small hive beetles, and Vespa species.
