Dr. Nieh’sinterestsfocusonbeecommunication, cognition, andhealth. Hestudiesmanytypesofsocialbees, includinghoneybees, bumblebees, andstinglessbees. Hislabstudiesforagingandcommunicationinhoneybeesandhoneybeehealth. Theresearchonhoneybeehealthfocusesonhowpesticidesalterhoneybeebehaviorandlearning, howacommonpathogen,Nosemaceranae, infectsbeesandalterstheirbehavior, howhoneybeeimmunitycanbeboostedtofightNosemainfection, and how the bee gut microbiome may help is find new ways to counter Nosemainfection.
