Description
This is the first announcement of the 2026 Spring Workshop of the COLOSS Varroa control Task Force. The workshop will be held on April 23, 2026 at the Bee Institute Kirchhain, Germany. It will be held after the COLOSS Bee Breeding Task Force meeting (April 22) and followed by a Training School on In vitro Rearing of varroa mites (April 24).
Please note: We plan to enable online participation during the workshop but not during the training school.
IMPORTANT: For all events above, a separate registration is necessary.
The workshop is open exclusively to COLOSS members. A detailed agenda will follow.
Participants who are interested to suggest a new common experiment/activity are welcomed to send us an email before April 5th 2026, to be included in the meeting agenda.
Abstracts
The submission of an abstract is recommended but not required, unless you wish to present your work during the meeting and to publish it in the Workshop Proceedings.
Registration
The deadline for registration is 20th of March 2026 and for sending your abstract it is 5th of April 2026. Online participation will be possible (please select during registration).

How to reach Kirchhain
From the Frankfurt Airport: Take the “S-Bahn” (= fast metro) to Frankfurt Central Station, it departs from the regional train station in the basement of Terminal 1 (S8 or S9, from platform 1).
The fast metro arrives in the basement of the central station (4 stops from airport). Take the elevator to the first floor and change to the regional train that goes directly to Kirchhain (direction to Kassel or Treysa, usually from platform 14, 15 or 16).
