We are COLOSS!

Worker honey bee
By searching for food, this worker honey bee provides a
valuable pollination service.

Welcome to the home of the COLOSS (Prevention of honey bee COlony LOSSes) Network. We are a group of scientists, veterinarians, beekeepers, and students from over 60 countries that are working together to better understand honey bee health and to prevent the high numbers of colony deaths that are occurring in many regions of the world.

To meet our goals, we coordinate conferences, workshops, and short-term scientific missions across Europe and beyond for our 300+ members.

Dead Colony
A typical colony dead-out that is
regularly observed by beekeepers.

To ensure sustainability, the network places a strong emphasis on promoting women in science, developing technical knowledge and skills of young scientists, and enhancing awareness of the importance of honey bees at a global level.

For more information about our network or honey bee health, or to become a member or partner, please browse our pages and feel free to contact us.

COLOSS is financially supported by the Ricola Foundation.  The network was initiated in 2008 by a COST Action FA0803.
