| About | Marta Leite, with a degree in Biochemistry and a Master degree in Forensic Chemistry from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bromatology and Hydrology from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra, is currently a Full-time Researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research (INIAV, I.P.) in the Strategic Unit for Research and Services in Food Technology and Safety (UEISTSA). Her main activities in Food Quality, Food Safety & Analytical Chemistry, stemming from 14 years of professional experience, are mainly related to project management and research towards the development and application of advanced analytical methodologies for the identification and quantification of natural and anthropogenic contaminants in biological samples of animal and plant origin, and bioactive compounds with nutritional and nutraceutical properties in food. Her analytical competences include chromatography systems with mass detectors and, multi-detection and multi-class methodologies. She also integrates the COST 22105 BeSafeBeeHoney, where she is the leader of the Working Group 6 – Coordination, Dissemination and stakeholder involvement; and Science Communication Coordinator. In the research field of beekeeping, she has now been working on the development of analytical methods for the detection of antibiotics and mycotoxins in different beekeeping products, as well as on risk-benefit assessment regarding the consumption of these products. |
