About | RESEARCH PROGRAM Research within 3 general categories: 1) Effects of Pesticides on Honey Bees. Study on the sublethal effects of bifenthrin and deltamethrin on fecundity, growth, and development of Apis mellifera. We research the effects of bifenthrin, deltamethrin and fluvalinate on excitability of the isolated neurons by the patch-clamp. 2) Effects of Transgenic crop on Honey Bees. We research the effects of the Cry1Ah toxin and Bt corn pollen on honeybees, including Bt cry1Ah toxin on workers of Apis mellifera and Apis cerana, Bt cry1Ah corn pollen on larvae of Apis mellifera and Apis cerana, and effects of transgenic Bt cry1Ah corn on Apis mellifera colony in field cages. 3) Honeybees pests. Study on identification, distribution and management of Varroa, Tropilaelaps, Nosema. Study on diagnosis of virus. We breed great wax moth in the laboratory and evaluated Bt toxin as a potential control for wax moth larvae in laboratory. RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS [1] Yang Y, Ma SL, Yan ZX, Liu F, Diao QY, Dai PL*. I took lectures about honeybee pests for the beekeepers in China, about 2300 from Beijing, Hebei province, Shanxi province and Hubei province in recent 5 years. As the member of bee protection lab, I help beekeepers in the diagnosis of more than 200 samples each year. I reply beekeepers questions about bee disease more than 300 times each year. |
