| About | I am a PhD student at the University of Salford. Previously I achieved my degree in biology at this same institution. I had a keen interest in eusocial insects with my dissertation being focused on nestmate recognition in Formica exsecta. Following this I readily accepted the opportunity to study the tripartite relationship between Varroa destructor, deformed wing virus (DWV) and Apis mellifera as a PhD student. The goal of my research is to uncover the mechanism behind Varroa resistance and thus to encourage efforts towards breeding resistant bees. |
