Jesus Piedrafita

My research has mainly been focused on the improvement of ruminants for meat, both beef and sheep. I have worked in the development of selection schemes for growth, carcass (ultrasonic scanning) and longevity traits, and also in the analysis of the feasibility of genomic selection in beef cattle. In addition to that I have worked in the conservation of a semi-feral cattle breed. Currently my interest in in bee breeding and the genomics of stress in small ruminants.
For more than 30 years I have taught Animal Breeding to Veterinary students, and in the last years Quantitative Genetics and Breeding to students of the Genetic’s degree. Furthermore, I have taught Applied Statistics and Experimental Design to a variety of students.
