About | Susan Cobey’s focus is honey bee breeding and instrumental insemination. She has experience in establishing and managing a closed population breeding program for 40 generations. Her experience includes management of Honey Bee Research Laboratories at the Ohio University State and the University of California, Davis,providing honey bee stock and assisting faculty, researchers, and students in their honey bee research projects. Currently she operates Honey Bee Insemination Service, providing breeding stock, custom insemination and training in the technique. She also holds a 50% appointment with Washington State University. Her focus is enhancement of honey bee stocks and improvement of colony health through breeding and incorporation of germplasm, collected from honey bees in their native range, to enhance the U.S. gene pool. She provides information in presentations, publications and instructional material for both scientific and public audiences, worldwide to promote honey bee stock improvement. |
