Dear researcher,

On behalf of AVESPA, the Association of Veterinarians Specialists in Bee Health and Production, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the BEE HEALTH SYMPOSIUM, which will take place on June 15th and 16th, 2024 at the facilities of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University from Madrid.

The importance of beekeeping transcends the production of honey and other bee products since, in addition to being a fundamental pillar for food security, it is an essential environmental activity that contributes to promoting and preserving biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, guaranteeing the sustainability of our environment and ultimately the balance of our planet.

The main objective of this Symposium entitled “Honeybee welfare in a healthy world” is to draw international attention to bee welfare, bee production and the broader impact of bee health on animals and the environment.

AVESPA is in charge of organizing this international Symposium, which will be held for the first time in our country. From our Association we consider that Spain, a country in the European Union with the largest census of hives and a significant number of professional beekeepers, and veterinarians, guarantors of the health and well-being of bees, should lead this type of events that allow us to promote knowledge and research, as well as sharing experiences and new practices in beekeeping to protect the health of bees, consumers and our world.

All information about it is available at the Symposium web address, https://www.ucm.es/bee-health2024/.

Best regards,
Mª Dolores Sánchez Escudero
Presidenta de AVESPA
