Helena Proková is a beekeeper and field-based practitioner with extensive experience in the identification, monitoring, and scientific communication of the invasive Asian hornet, Vespa velutina nigrithorax. For more than five years, she has been engaged in activities related to early detection, participatory monitoring, and public awareness concerning the spread of this species in Central Europe.

Her work combines practical field experience with communication and coordination efforts aimed at improving surveillance and response capacity among beekeepers, citizens, local authorities, and researchers. She has also been involved in collaborative initiatives, including “Blesabee.online” and “Beeconf.com”, contributing to knowledge dissemination and exchange within the apicultural sector.

At the European level, Helena Proková is particularly interested in the ongoing spread of Vespa velutina in Slovakia and surrounding countries, and in strengthening links between research, applied monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. Her experience underlines the value of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in improving the understanding and management of this invasive species.
