About

I am a post-doctoral fellow at the Honeybee research lab, Department of Veterinary Pathology Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. My research work includes honeybee diseases, surveillance of bacterial pathogens across Canada, and the development of effective treatment strategies for bacterial honeybee diseases. My long-term research goal is to develop a professional research career in animal health and disease prevention. I was very fascinated by Honeybees and their interaction with a variety of microbes. The beneficial, and detrimental effect of microbes in honeybees, is an interesting topic to study. My academic credentials include B.Sc. in Zoology, M.Sc. in Animal Science, and Ph.D. in Biosciences (Zoology). My Ph.D. research was on the beneficial application of microbes in disease prevention as well as treatment in a fish model. I have studied the microbes associated with the vertebrate organism and developed potential bacteria for probiotic applications. I have studied the antimicrobial efficacy as well as the beneficial interactions of the bacteria with the host organism.
